Nasal deformity and Rhinoseptoplasty
Rhinoplasty or rhinoseptoplasty can be performed for aesthetics or functional reasons in order to improve breathing and morphology. Nasal deformity can be congenital or acquired (post-traumatic, post tumor resection). In the preoperative, study of the nose, photos, X-ray, CT scan and rhinomanometry are necessary.
The basic surgical thecniques are:
- Rhinoplasty;
- Septoplasty;
- Rhinoseptoplasty;
- Total nasal reconstruction in selected cases (trauma, deformities, tumors).
Septoplasty is a functional operation. It consists in the realignement of the nasal septum with possible turbinate resection.Rhinoplasty includes the restoration of the osteocartilagineous components with a combination of basal bony osteotomies and possible cartilage remodelling or cartilage grafts.Total nasal restoration is a complex surgical technique used in severe cases of nasal deformity, congenital, after trauma or in the reconstruction after tumor resection.The goal is to restore soft tissue, bone, cartilages.
