Prof. Luigi ClauserProfessor Luigi C. Clauser, Director of the Unit of Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery of the University Hospital of Ferrara, Italy, is a Specialist in Maxillofacial Surgery and Odontostomatology, internationally acknowledged as one of the leading experts in this field.
His expertise covers facial reconstruction, aesthetic surgery, implant surgery, implantology, orthognathic surgery to correct various types of malocclusion, traumatology, orbital surgery, oral surgery - odontostomatology and treatment of temporo-mandibular joint dysfunctions.
He is, moreover, one of the leading experts in the treatment of congenital craniofacial malformations, distraction osteogenesis and multidisciplinary treatment of exophthalmos in Graves-Basedow Disease.
Professor Clauser was one of the first  to introduce in Europe the restoration of facial volume into Maxillofacial Surgery through the use of structural fat grafting. Furthermore, he has refined particular techniques of dismantling and reassembling of the facial skeleton in tumour surgery.
Professor Clauser was one of the last  of Dr. Paul Tessier's pupils in Paris. In Italy his mentor was Prof. Camillo Curioni in Vicenza.
He has performed over 9,000 surgical operations in different fields in Cranio-Maxillo-Facial  and Oral Surgery.
Professor Clauser was President of the EACMFS (European Association for Cranio-Maxillo-Facial Surgery) from 2006 to 2008 and a member of the EACMFS Executive committee from 2002 to 2010.
He is  responsible for  promoting Maxillofacial Surgery not only throughout Europe and other continents, but also in  Eastern Europe and in countries with limited resources.
Professor Clauser has had the privilege of being an invited  speaker at many notable  Congresses and Scientific Events worldwide, has authored over 200 Scientific Publications and is  one of the world’s leaders in Orbital Surgery, organizing and sponsoring the world’s largest symposium on Orbital Surgery, ORBIT2011, October 2011-Ferrara, Italy.
Professor Clauser has been a visiting professor in many Craniofacial and Maxillofacial Centres worldwide.
He is a Reviewer of: the European J of CranioMaxillofacial Surgery, J of Craniofacial Surgery, International J of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery  and  Member of European Board of Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery (FEBOMFS) and of  the Scientific Committee of the Italian Association for the Study of Malformations (ASM). Professor Clauser is  part of the “Fairy Faces  Project”, founded by Professor Bernard Devauchelle (Amines, France), who carried out the first partial facial transplantation in the world. This project includes all complex facial and craniofacial reconstructions.
